We’ve all hosted that backyard barbeque party where someone immediately begins to throw away the buns you placed their delicious freshly grilled burger on. You cry a little on the inside at that loss of bun. But we have a solution for you this year. All it involves is a simple head of lettuce. That’s it. EASY. No more buns being thrown away or your friends eating their cheeseburger with a knife and fork. Here’s where burger fanatics and low carb lifestyles meet in perfect harmony.

Ingredients
:

1 pound Schaendorf ground beef

1 teaspoon kosher salt

½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

4 slices of Colby jack or cheddar cheese

4 tablespoons of ketchup

4 tablespoons of yellow mustard

1 head of lettuce

Preparation (Servings: 4):

1) Preheat grill to 450-475 degrees. Form the ground beef into 4, 4 ounce patties. Season all sides with kosher salt and fresh black pepper.

2) Grill burgers to preferred doneness. During last minute of cooking add cheese slices to the top of each burger.

3) To assemble burgers, place patty inside a large leaf of lettuce. Top with ketchup and mustard. Fold around the burger like a sandwich, you may use a toothpick to hold the lettuce in place if needed.
